Rachel^6 Van Wicklen (Isaac^5, Paul^4, Garret^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes) was b. 1806, Ontario, Canada and m. John Campbell (b. abt. 1806) before 1835. They had four children.

According to personal correspondence from Harry Macy to me dated 28 August 1999,

On 29 July 1784, Isaac, Rachel's father, witnessed the marriage of Thomas Warren and Rachel Drake in Rhinebeck (Arthur Kelly, Marriage Records of Four Reformed Congregations of Old Rhinebeck, 1971, p. 77). (Could this be where the name of Rachel for Isaac's youngest daughter came from?)

Excerpts from Judy Houston's email dated 17 June 2000:

Oral history claimed the family (Campbell, Van Wicklin or both) had come as United Empire Loyalists from a Staten Island, NY farm and settled near Cobourg, Ontario. An aunt said the name was Van Wickler and that they were Quakers from Pennsylvania and that it was really Deutsch which is German. My research is sketchy because Lucinda's death certificate gave her mother's name as Van Miclkins and her birth place as Haldimand Co. However, ...Lucy (Campbell) Davis who was b. in Brighton Township suggested Haldimand Township, Northumberland as the place to look. (Additional clarification provided by Judy Houston (email-26 June 2000) about the letter from her aunt. Judy quotes her aunt as saying, "Well, our grandmother Thomas, her name was Van Wickler, was a quaker from Pennsylvania...". However, Judy points out that her aunt had mistaken her maternal grandmother for her paternal grandmother THOMAS (born Germany). Her maternal grandmother was Lucinda whose mother was a VW and United Empire Loyalist but likely not a Quaker.)

20Oct08 email from Al Campbell -- "I am the 5th great grandson of Oliver Campbell [b. 1744 NY, d. 1805] of Cramahe Township, Northumberland County, Ontario. Oliver had four sons, William [b. 1775, d. abt 1863], John [b. 1776, d. ?], Stephen [b. 1780, d. 1854] and Cornelius [b. 1791, d. 1860]. I am looking for information on Oliver's son, John Campbell and his descendents.

I found your information on John Campbell, wife of Rachel Van Wicklin and believe this John may be the son of John Campbell, son of Oliver.
